Justice Karanan sentenced to eight judges including CJI, sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment

The Calcutta High Court's Judge Justice CS Karanan and the Supreme Court had increased to such an extent that the matter, starting with the charge of contempt, has now reached the judges to pronounce the rigorous imprisonment. Justice Karanan, who is facing allegations of contempt, on Monday sentenced eight judges of the Supreme Court including Chief Justice (CJI) Justice JS Khehar to five years rigorous imprisonment.

Between the rising Talkhi with the Supreme Court, Justice Karanan, while pronouncing the sentences to these eight judges, said that he committed a joint offense punishable under the Scheduled Castes-Tribes Torture Act of 1989 and the amended Act under 2015.

He also named the judges of the seven-member bench of the apex court. In addition to the CJI, Justice Deepak Mishra, Justice J. Cheleshwaram, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Madan B. Lokur, Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghosh and Justice Kurien Joseph. The bench had taken defamation proceedings against Justice Karanan after taking cognizance of her and barred her from doing judicial and administrative work.
Sentenced under SC-ST Atrocities Law

Justice Karananan, another judge of the Supreme Court R. Bhanumati has also been kept on which he has co-accused CJI Khashar and accused himself (Justice Karanan) of being deprived of judicial and administrative work.

According to an order issued by the Supreme Court, Justice Karanan refused to examine his mental health on May 4. He told the doctors team that he is absolutely normal and his mental condition is absolutely fine.

Accusing the Supreme Court of discriminating against eight judges, Justice Karanan said that he would be punished under the Scheduled Castes-Tribes Atrocities Act of 1989. He said that these eight judges tortured a dalit judge using his judicial and administrative authority, he burnt me in a public body. Justice Karanan, while issuing an order from a temporary court at his residence located in Rodel Towers, New Town, said, "There is no judicial decision needed in this instant case."
Fines with conviction

In his order, Justice Karanan has sentenced each judge to five years of rigorous imprisonment under section 3 (1) (M), (1) (r) and (1) (u) of section 3 of the SC-ST Torture Act and one lakh Sentenced to a fine of Rs. He said that three sentences will go together and if the penalty amount is not filled then their punishment will increase for six months. Penalty amount must be deposited within a week of the receipt of the copy of the order in the Office of the National Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes's Khan Market, New Delhi office.


Order to deposit 14 Crore to all judges
Justice Karanan said, "On 13th April, I had issued an order that a penalty of Rs 14 crore was imposed on the back of seven judges and this order is still in force. The Registrar General of the Supreme Court was told that it would be deducted from his salary. At the same time Justice Bhanumati was ordered to deposit the damages of two crore rupees.
